An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Hemeleers in the 25th minute of play forced Eegem's goalkeeper Bruno Thielens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the game, Eegem's Niel Segers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gerard Spoelberch made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Jacq Sterckmans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Bruno Thielens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rdth minute of the game Nico Hemeleers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Eegem's Bruno Thielens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nico Hemeleers was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 46th minute. FC Diest's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When the match had gone on for 49 minutes, Nico Hemeleers put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Bruno Thielens. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Gerard Spoelberch was a little too slow when Niel Segers got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 1-4. In the 59th minute Nico Hemeleers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Thielens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 63 played minutes Eegem got a freekick which was hit by Pierre-Paul Coekelbergh. In the 64th minute, Andre Caers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adam De kaiser who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Gerard Spoelberch when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Eegem booed when FC Diest was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gunther Gressens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pierrot Denturck was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 73rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Niel Segers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eegem's supporters rose to their feet, but Niel Segers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerard Spoelberch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 79 minutes, Pierrot Denturck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eegem and the FC Diest players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pierrot Denturck kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Bruno Thielens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nico Hemeleers, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. If Andre Caers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the match, Eegem's goal looked a bit too open when Nico Hemeleers came free, but Bruno Thielens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niel Segers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 99th minute. Gerard Spoelberch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Eegem had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
