Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Cederik De Potter started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The supporters of KFC Edegem booed when AFC Averbode was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robbie Struijf didn't get a good kick on the ball. KFC Edegem's Gustave Baumans proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save KFC Edegem from getting a goal against them. Cederik De Potter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Baumans having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Lucas Verengen managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC Averbode's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucas Verengen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustave Baumans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 25 minutes, Gustave Baumans successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to KFC Edegem getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Tibaut Van Latem hit a great ball. Cederik De Potter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 32 minutes, Herman Hostens mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KFC Edegem and the AFC Averbode players grew even worse after the yellow card. Herman Hostens hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in KFC Edegem's zone, Lucas Verengen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustave Baumans came out of the goal and Lucas Verengen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cederik De Potter struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Gustave Baumans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Averbode. Gustave Baumans made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Lucas Verengen sent off a good shot on target. Gustave Baumans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cederik De Potter in the 41st minute of play. In the 48th minute Lucas Verengen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Baumans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Raf Van Brussel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute Cederik De Potter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Baumans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AFC Averbode's Lucas Verengen got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lucas Verengen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gustave Baumans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucas Verengen in the 71st minute of the match. In the 76th match minute, KFC Edegem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christoffel Van Houdtvinck to maneuver through the defense. Cederik De Potter charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cederik De Potter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 77 played minutes AFC Averbode got a freekick which was hit by Cederik De Potter. Lucas Verengen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cederik De Potter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andrew Valckx hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute, Tibaut Van Latem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cederik De Potter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Cederik De Potter came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the AFC Averbode fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cederik De Potter couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute, AFC Averbode's Etienne De Metser seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Etienne De Metser the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of AFC Averbode protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Etienne De Metser had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 96 minutes into the game, one of AFC Averbode:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 99 minutes, KFC Edegem's Xander-Paul Lenaerts got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Nico Vandeput. AFC Averbode were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
