Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cederik De Potter started the match with the kick off. The Green Tigers's Rens Maes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucas Verengen in the 3rd minute of play. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind AFC Averbode's goalkeeper Nico Vandeput, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 12 minutes, Cederik De Potter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Averbode's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cederik De Potter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Cederik De Potter managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC Averbode's supporters rose to their feet, but Cederik De Potter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rens Maes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 19 played minutes Cederik De Potter rounded The Green Tigers's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. In the 25th minute, Walter Netels got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in AFC Averbode's zone, Walter Netels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nico Vandeput came out of the goal and Walter Netels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Walter Netels struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Nico Vandeput didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Green Tigers. 42 minutes into the game, Cederik De Potter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AFC Averbode's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Green Tigers the free kick. Jamie Ingelborgh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Walter Netels stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Walter Netels took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Nico Vandeput to make any attempt to save it. Cederik De Potter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rens Maes having to interfere. After some careless play in the The Green Tigers defense, Robbie Struijf kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rens Maes. The The Green Tigers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rens Maes should have stopped the shot. The Green Tigers's Rens Maes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucas Verengen in the 62nd minute of play. In the 65th minute, Cederik De Potter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Henri-Xavier Schellekens's late challenge caught a AFC Averbode's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henri-Xavier Schellekens helped the player get up and apologised. After 68 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for The Green Tigers! Rens Maes had in the 69thth minute some difficulties stopping Reinaud Gysens's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Walter Netels during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to AFC Averbode getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Reinaud Gysens hit a great ball. Jamie Ingelborgh's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nico Vandeput firmly grabbed it by the left post. Walter Netels struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Nico Vandeput didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Green Tigers. Cederik De Potter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Rens Maes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cederik De Potter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rens Maes having to interfere. Rens Maes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas Verengen in the 89th minute of play. Rens Maes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cederik De Potter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rens Maes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas Verengen in the 97th minute of play. In the 99th minute, Walter Netels hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There was no doubt that AFC Averbode were the better team. AFC Averbode's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
