In the 3rd minute Glenn Uytdebroeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quillian Rouvoet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herve Van den Bergh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. cercle brugge's Quillian Rouvoet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glenn Uytdebroeck in the 7th minute of play. Herve Van den Bergh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Herve Van den Bergh made a precise shot to the right of Quillian Rouvoet. cercle brugge's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Steff Van Boeckost made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roland Schrevens in the 34th minute of play. Edward Cuppens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steff Van Boeckost having to interfere. Roland Schrevens took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Steff Van Boeckost. Steff Van Boeckost dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Roland Schrevens got free with Steff Van Boeckost in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 55th minute of the match Jacob Oliviers shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Quillian Rouvoet showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. HO Wolvertem-Merchtem's Steff Van Boeckost played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timothy Dirickx in the 58th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, HO Wolvertem-Merchtem's goal looked a bit too open when Timothy Dirickx came free, but Steff Van Boeckost reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute of the match, Timothy Dirickx tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Steff Van Boeckost saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 93 minutes into the match, cercle brugge's Mathias-Alexander Callewaert sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Steff Van Boeckost narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Steff Van Boeckost made an important save on a dangerous shot by Timothy Dirickx in the 94th minute. In the 97th minute Timothy Dirickx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steff Van Boeckost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
