Christiaan Jongbloedt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Quillian Rouvoet made a huge save. 10 minutes into the match, Red Hot Chili Devils's Christiaan Jongbloedt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Quillian Rouvoet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Patrick Martin came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Red Hot Chili Devils fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrick Martin couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Koenens during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Red Hot Chili Devils booed when cercle brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Koenens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edward Cuppens charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edward Cuppens the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Red Hot Chili Devils booed when cercle brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Cuppens didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in cercle brugge's zone, Christiaan Jongbloedt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Quillian Rouvoet came out of the goal and Christiaan Jongbloedt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. cercle brugge's Quillian Rouvoet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Martin in the 24th minute of play. cercle brugge's Roland Schrevens got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. cercle brugge's Timothy Dirickx managed to work through Red Hot Chili Devils's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Timothy Dirickx dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 32 minutes into the match, Christiaan Jongbloedt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Quillian Rouvoet, 1-0. When Edmond De Scheper fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored cercle brugge's protests and gave Edmond De Scheper a yellow card for diving instead. In the 40th minute, Edmond De Scheper hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 41 minutes into the match, Red Hot Chili Devils's Christiaan Jongbloedt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Quillian Rouvoet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the cercle brugge defense, Christiaan Jongbloedt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Quillian Rouvoet. The cercle brugge fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Quillian Rouvoet should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Patrick Martin was the one to do the kick off. Reinaud Braeckman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Quillian Rouvoet having to interfere. When Patrick Martin came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Red Hot Chili Devils fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrick Martin couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, cercle brugge's Raf Gysemans got a free kick in the 57th minute. Christiaan Jongbloedt spun around in front of the goal 58 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of cercle brugge's goal. Quillian Rouvoet came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Red Hot Chili Devils's Christiaan Jongbloedt. But to his dismay, Christiaan Jongbloedt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Christiaan Jongbloedt struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Quillian Rouvoet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Red Hot Chili Devils. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrick Martin in the 77th minute of play forced cercle brugge's goalkeeper Quillian Rouvoet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Red Hot Chili Devils's goalkeeper Kobe Vissenakens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roland Schrevens in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kobe Vissenakens saved Red Hot Chili Devils from getting behind. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Red Hot Chili Devils fans cheered their team off the field, for while cercle brugge had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
