After a rather tough play, Racing Genk's Lars Aerts got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Toon Neels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Guilian Vits tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jimmy Van Deijck in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guilian Vits prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Lars Aerts's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laurend Saelens was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Basiel Van Leemput took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laurend Saelens. Laurend Saelens dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. When Marten Schipmans fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored BC grimbergen's protests and gave Marten Schipmans a yellow card for diving instead. In the 18th match minute, BC grimbergen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marten Schipmans to maneuver through the defense. Guilian Vits showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toon Neels, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. BC grimbergen's Laurend Saelens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Aerts in the 31st minute of play. In the 31st minute, Erik Verlinden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Lars Aerts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Toon Neels sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basiel Van Leemput struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Laurend Saelens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Genk. Laurend Saelens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Aerts in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lars Aerts to make the kick off. Lars Aerts struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Laurend Saelens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Genk. Laurend Saelens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Aerts in the 70th minute of the match. Guilian Vits made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Jimmy Van Deijck sent off a good shot on target. Guilian Vits had great luck who in the 75thth minute grab hold of the ball when Toon Neels from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. If Guilian Grammet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, BC grimbergen's Toon Neels ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Guilian Vits. Guilian Vits yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. The supporters of Racing Genk booed when BC grimbergen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Verlinden didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute, Erik Verlinden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the match, BC grimbergen's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Aerts came free, but Laurend Saelens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilfried Airpoel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Laurend Saelens. BC grimbergen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jimmy Van Deijck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guilian Vits having to interfere. Lars Aerts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Laurend Saelens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. BC grimbergen's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
