When Adolf Van den Panhuizen got free in front of the goal in the 27th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Jo Servrancx was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After a rather tough play, AC Wetteren's Albertus Fossaert got a free kick in the 28th minute. After having played for 32 minutes, Gill Cesters managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KV Mechelen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gill Cesters was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Adolf Van den Panhuizen managed to get in a good position for a shot. KV Mechelen's supporters rose to their feet, but Adolf Van den Panhuizen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jo Servrancx breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Robbin De Pauw got free with Kevin Blommaert in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Adolf Van den Panhuizen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 0-1 became the score in the 43rd minute when Gill Cesters elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Gill Cesters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roger Van Geertruyden made a kick off. A nice corner shot did that Ief Alaerts got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Kevin Blommaert quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Adolf Van den Panhuizen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 59th match minute, AC Wetteren was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yoeri Dauwen to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in AC Wetteren's zone, Gill Cesters stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jo Servrancx came out of the goal and Gill Cesters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gill Cesters recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 66 minutes into the game, Ivan Steenbecks was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AC Wetteren's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave KV Mechelen the free kick. After a rather tough play, AC Wetteren's Ivan Steenbecks got a free kick in the 66th minute. A hard shot 69 in the game by Adolf Van den Panhuizen from a close distance when the talented Jo Servrancx managed to make a qualified save. AC Wetteren's players were relieved. Kevin Blommaert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Van Geertruyden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A very good chance. KV Mechelen were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
