Ehsal's Dennis Lissens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charl Le Lion in the 32nd minute of play. Phillipe Van Meirhaeghe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Oscar Deman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to FC Betelgeuse getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wim Maertens during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After the first half FC Betelgeuse were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Betelgeuse's goalkeeper Oscar Deman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 61 minutes into the game, Ehsal's Christoff Terhorst nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oscar Deman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Oscar Deman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Phillipe Van Meirhaeghe's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 67thth minute of the game Phillipe Van Meirhaeghe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Betelgeuse's Oscar Deman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 70th minute Geordy Ballette suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Emiel Van Den Eynden fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Betelgeuse's protests and gave Emiel Van Den Eynden a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ehsal booed when FC Betelgeuse was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emiel Van Den Eynden didn't get a good kick on the ball.
