After a rather tough play, FC Betelgeuse's Herve Coeckelberghs got a free kick in the 12th minute. If Adolf Van den Panhuizen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. FC Betelgeuse's Charl Le Lion got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Adolf Van den Panhuizen managed to get in a good position for a shot. KV Mechelen's supporters rose to their feet, but Adolf Van den Panhuizen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
