Roger Van Geertruyden was extremely unlucky when he, in the 47th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roger Van Geertruyden to make the kick off. If Roger Van Geertruyden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roger Van Geertruyden struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Fredrik Hennes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AC Wetteren. AC Wetteren's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave KFC Dergneau the free kick. After 68 played minutes AC Wetteren got a freekick which was hit by Yoeri Dauwen. The supporters of AC Wetteren booed when KFC Dergneau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Didier Verhulst didn't get a good kick on the ball. 78 minutes into the match, KFC Dergneau's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Van Geertruyden came free, but Fredrik Hennes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kenny Pelegrims kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. If Bavo Dekkers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bavo Dekkers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Jo Servrancx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. KFC Dergneau succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though AC Wetteren had controlled the match.
