In the 40th minute Bavo Dekkers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Deman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Bavo Dekkers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dyllan Van Impe was the one to do the kick off. Gilian De Wortelaer's late challenge caught a FC Betelgeuse's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilian De Wortelaer helped the player get up and apologised. After 53 played minutes KFC Dergneau got a freekick which was hit by Gilian De Wortelaer. FC Betelgeuse's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Josef De Muysere in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute, Stef Hemelsoet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oscar Deman was a little too slow when Dyllan Van Impe got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 61st minute. The score was now 2-1. KFC Dergneau's Gilian De Wortelaer got his second yellow card of the match in the 73rd minute. The referee ordered Gilian De Wortelaer off the ground. Peter-Jan De Hondt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bavo Dekkers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Deman having to interfere. Peter-Jan De Hondt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fredrik Hennes having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Charl Le Lion's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fredrik Hennes was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. In the 89th match minute, KFC Dergneau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dyllan Van Impe to maneuver through the defense. If Charl Le Lion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Charl Le Lion came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the FC Betelgeuse fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charl Le Lion couldn't finish the play.
