Jos Nagels blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marc Schellekens having to make a save. FC.Astene city's Jos Nagels got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Jacky Wolfdoncx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the FC.Astene city defense, Arnauld Baele kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stephen Damman. The FC.Astene city fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stephen Damman should have stopped the shot. Stephen Damman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnauld Baele, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Jacky Wolfdoncx had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stephen Damman. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jesse De Loose to make the kick off.
