Gwen Van Brusselen started the match with the kick off. Michiel Geest showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaert Dauwe in the 6th minute of the match. After 7 minutes of play, LYNX's Wouter Van Steen made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Michiel Geest was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alexander De Leger struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Yelle Imbreghts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VC Lizerne. If Alexander De Leger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dolf Van De Ven recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the LYNX defense, Xander-Paul Van haeck kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yelle Imbreghts. The LYNX fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Yelle Imbreghts should have stopped the shot. Gwen Van Brusselen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Michiel Geest tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gwen Van Brusselen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michiel Geest having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dolf Van De Ven stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Yelle Imbreghts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alexander De Leger in the 54th minute. Dolf Van De Ven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Yelle Imbreghts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 72 minutes, Alexander De Leger made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. LYNX's Yelle Imbreghts tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 74th minute, Xander-Paul Van Leempten hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yelle Imbreghts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dolf Van De Ven, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind LYNX's goalkeeper Yelle Imbreghts, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in VC Lizerne's zone, Wouter Van Steen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michiel Geest came out of the goal and Wouter Van Steen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The VC Lizerne supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing VC Lizerne would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
