In the 23rd minute, VC Denderleeuw's Patrick Van Gorpt seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Patrick Van Gorpt the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of VC Denderleeuw protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Patrick Van Gorpt had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in VC Denderleeuw fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! VC Denderleeuw:s Walter Van Gestel showed great skill when he stopped Gert-Jan Van Laer:s penalty. A collision led to VC Denderleeuw getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Claus Dockx hit a great ball. In the 28thth minute of the game Christoff Coopmans who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VC Denderleeuw's Walter Van Gestel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Jorg Cantillon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Remie Van Beylen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jimmy Van Collenborgh's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind VC Denderleeuw's goalkeeper Walter Van Gestel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Robbrecht Hoes kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Christoff Coopmans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Walter Van Gestel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as FC SKALPEL's Christoff Coopmans slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Walter Van Gestel. That made the score 1-0 after 46 minutes of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jimmy Van Collenborgh to strike the kick off in the second half. When Bernt Devaux fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored VC Denderleeuw's protests and gave Bernt Devaux a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes VC Denderleeuw got a freekick which was hit by Bernt Devaux. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yoachim Eekhout in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Walter Van Gestel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Christoff Coopmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walter Van Gestel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yoachim Eekhout, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind VC Denderleeuw's goalkeeper Walter Van Gestel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as VC Denderleeuw's Jimmy Van Collenborgh slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Remie Van Beylen. That made the score 1-1 after 69 minutes of play. Jimmy Van Collenborgh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. After a rather tough play, FC SKALPEL's Tijs Van Huele got a free kick in the 79th minute. Jimmy Van Collenborgh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Robbrecht Hoes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
