Walter Van Boeckost showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilbert Kempenaerts in the 28th minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Renaut de la Croix made a precise shot to the right of Walter Van Boeckost. KFC Vechmaal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 40 minutes into the match, RSC anderlecht's goalkeeper Pino Van Hallebeeck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stefaan Van Den Broeck. 44 minutes into the game, Renaut de la Croix cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Walter Van Boeckost was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 48 minutes into the game, Dolf Van Vyve was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KFC Vechmaal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RSC anderlecht the free kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nickolas Breugelmans to make the kick off. The referee ignored KFC Vechmaal's protests and gave Nickolas Breugelmans a yellow card for diving instead. Nickolas Breugelmans hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see KFC Vechmaal lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
