Robbie Vanbuyten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dyllan Helssen, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Karel-Jan Pijps made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Van Severen in the 27th minute. If Dyllan Helssen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of KFC Spendenhoek booed when Rekegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hannes Villyn didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Matijs Susters fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KFC Spendenhoek's protests and gave Matijs Susters a yellow card for diving instead. Karel-Jan Pijps came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Rekegem's Wim Van Severen. But to his dismay, Wim Van Severen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Hannes Villyn made the kick off in the second half. Nicky Sommers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Rekegem's Robbie Vanbuyten proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Rekegem from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Hannes Villyn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rekegem's supporters rose to their feet, but Hannes Villyn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Karel-Jan Pijps breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The KFC Spendenhoek supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing KFC Spendenhoek would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
