Robby Verheecke didn't get a good kick on the ball. 11 minutes into the match, KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove's goal looked a bit too open when Oswald Van Caels came free, but Vicente Ketelers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ritchie De Raemaekers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bob Boegaert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Michel Verheijd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Ketelers having to interfere. If Michel Verheijd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove's Vicente Ketelers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswald Van Caels in the 19th minute of play. In the 23rd minute Ritchie De Raemaekers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bob Boegaert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in KV Wanzele's zone, Simon Mortier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bob Boegaert came out of the goal and Simon Mortier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vicente Ketelers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswald Van Caels in the 35th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, KV Wanzele's Oswald Van Caels ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vicente Ketelers. Vicente Ketelers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in KV Wanzele's zone, Bartjan Kerstens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bob Boegaert came out of the goal and Bartjan Kerstens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Paul Rix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bob Boegaert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Mortier in the 47th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ritchie De Raemaekers was the one to do the kick off. Michel Verheijd struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Vicente Ketelers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KV Wanzele. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove! Raf Haentjens walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Vicente Ketelers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Verheijd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michel Verheijd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Vicente Ketelers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Ritchie De Raemaekers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 71st minute, Michel Verheijd left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KV Wanzele fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After 74 minutes of play KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove's Bartjan Kerstens was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 75th match minute, KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bartjan Kerstens to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in KV Wanzele's zone, Simon Mortier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bob Boegaert came out of the goal and Simon Mortier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vicente Ketelers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswald Van Caels in the 83rd minute of play. KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove's Simon Mortier got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind KV Wanzele's goalkeeper Bob Boegaert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 93 minutes into the match, KV Wanzele's Michel Verheijd sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vicente Ketelers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. KFC Velzeke-Ruddershove's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
