Amílton Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henri-Xavier Buyck in the 9th minute of play. Yens Van Heerle kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Bernd Van den Bergen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yoachim Kerkhofs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Club Brugge KV's Yens Van Heerle got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 18 in the game by Yens Van Heerle from a close distance when the talented Amílton Paraíba managed to make a qualified save. KSV Sottegem's players were relieved. Club Brugge KV were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after KSV Sottegem's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Adolphe Mallaerts took the corner. Yens Van Heerle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Yens Van Heerle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílton Paraíba having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge KV's Yens Van Heerle got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th match minute, Club Brugge KV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tibo Van Looy to maneuver through the defense. Club Brugge KV's Yoachim Kerkhofs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernd Van den Bergen in the 31st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henri-Xavier Buyck in the 34th minute of play forced KSV Sottegem's goalkeeper Amílton Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the match, KSV Sottegem's goal looked a bit too open when Henri-Xavier Buyck came free, but Amílton Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Henri-Xavier Buyck's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amílton Paraíba was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Thanks to some nice moves Yens Van Heerle could shoot a difficult shot in the 49th minute, which Amílton Paraíba however easily saved by the left post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernd Van den Bergen made a kick off. KSV Sottegem's Amílton Paraíba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henri-Xavier Buyck in the 56th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yens Van Heerle couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute, Yens Van Heerle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 97th minute, Jordy Hendrickx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. KSV Sottegem's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
