The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Werken's Nils Maeijnaerts nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Harold Rompen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ernest Uytterhoeven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waud De Backer having to interfere. Harold Rompen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mats Opdebeeck in the 13th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Boubadji United's goal looked a bit too open when Oswald Pelleman came free, but Harold Rompen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nils Maeijnaerts scored 0-2 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Harold Rompen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Harold Rompen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mats Opdebeeck, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Robbie Vanden Broucke hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The supporters of Werken booed when Boubadji United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robbie Vanden Broucke didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harold Rompen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Oswald Pelleman charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oswald Pelleman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 33 played minutes Werken got a freekick which was hit by Oswald Pelleman. Robbie Vanden Broucke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bill Van Den Hout charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bill Van Den Hout the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Werken's Bill Van Den Hout got a free kick in the 37th minute. Robbie Vanden Broucke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Dominik Van Huytvenne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Robbie Vanden Broucke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boubadji United's supporters rose to their feet, but Robbie Vanden Broucke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waud De Backer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 48th minute, Oswald Pelleman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ernest Uytterhoeven to make the kick off. Ernest Uytterhoeven blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Waud De Backer having to make a save. Robbie Vanden Broucke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Robbie Vanden Broucke recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvain Bourgignon during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Werken! Laurenz Beaufort received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Waud De Backer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Izak Anthonis hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. With his leg Harold Rompen managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when Werken's Bill Van Den Hout fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Harold Rompen made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Mats Opdebeeck sent off a good shot on target. Bill Van Den Hout hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. 91 minutes into the match, Werken's goal looked a bit too open when Ernest Uytterhoeven came free, but Waud De Backer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Ernest Uytterhoeven had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Waud De Backer. Werken's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernest Uytterhoeven was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Laurenz Beaufort fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waud De Backer having to interfere. After some careless play in the Werken defense, Robbie Vanden Broucke kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waud De Backer. The Werken fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waud De Backer should have stopped the shot.
