Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Camiel Huijbrechts got the match started through his kick off. With a little luck, KFC Graux's Herald Baeten got control of the ball when Camiel Huijbrechts tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 8 minutes, Henri Seveneijnts mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vantegem and the KFC Graux players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Vantegem getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Henri Seveneijnts hit a great ball. In the 10th minute Emile Kerstens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred De Maerschalckx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Emile Kerstens came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the KFC Graux fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emile Kerstens couldn't finish the play. Herald Baeten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sander De Koq in the 17th minute of play. Fred De Maerschalckx took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emile Kerstens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fred De Maerschalckx stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emile Kerstens's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. In the 36th minute, Emile Kerstens left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KFC Graux fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Bavo Beckers hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
In the 53rd minute of the match, Birger De Ceijser tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Fred De Maerschalckx saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 54 minutes into the match, Vantegem's goal looked a bit too open when Gregorie Calstermans came free, but Fred De Maerschalckx reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 56 minutes into the game, Gino Tobbackers cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Herald Baeten was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Fred De Maerschalckx made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Thobias Degryse sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute Gregorie Calstermans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred De Maerschalckx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 63 played minutes Vantegem got a freekick which was hit by Gino Tobbackers. In the 65th minute, Camiel Huijbrechts ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Herald Baeten was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 68th minute, Camiel Huijbrechts made a precise shot to the right of Herald Baeten. KFC Graux's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. In the 79th minute Gregorie Calstermans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred De Maerschalckx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sander De Koq in the 85th minute of play forced KFC Graux's goalkeeper Herald Baeten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leon Verdonck scored 4-2 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Herald Baeten, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Herald Baeten stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sander De Koq's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. A collision led to KFC Graux getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Wout De Swert hit a great ball. Sander De Koq struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Herald Baeten didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vantegem. The supporters of Vantegem booed when KFC Graux was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birger De Ceijser didn't get a good kick on the ball. Herald Baeten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Camiel Huijbrechts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee ended the match the Vantegem players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
