After a rather tough play, VC Winksele's Romain Pluijssens got a free kick in the 7th minute. Jean Slegers blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bartjan Van de kauter having to make a save. Alex Weggers's late challenge caught a VC Winksele's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alex Weggers helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of VC Winksele booed when Club Brugge KV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Weggers didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jean Slegers got free with Bartjan Van de kauter in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Bart Matthijs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jean Slegers in the 26thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bartjan Van de kauter, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 46th minute of the game Thommy Van Hoeij made a throw-in which Jean Slegers played forward.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jean Slegers to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Brugge KV's goalkeeper Bartjan Van de kauter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 53rd minute, Bart Matthijs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bart Matthijs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Bartjan Van de kauter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Camiel Coryn made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Lennart Van den Bossche sent off a good shot on target. Lennart Van den Bossche scored 1-1 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Camiel Coryn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Bart Matthijs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. VC Winksele's Barnaba Dresik was substituted for Thommy Van Hoeij. Lennart Van den Bossche sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arno Vercruysse in the 79th minute of play forced VC Winksele's goalkeeper Camiel Coryn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Club Brugge KV's goal looked a bit too open when Jean Slegers came free, but Bartjan Van de kauter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Bart Matthijs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, VC Winksele's Simon Moreau got a free kick in the 88th minute. After some careless play in the VC Winksele defense, Lennart Van den Bossche kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Camiel Coryn. The VC Winksele fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Camiel Coryn should have stopped the shot. Arno Vercruysse recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The VC Winksele manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Club Brugge KV to win.
