With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerry Verhaghen in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tom Van Bouschot saved 2860 Linksback from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steffen De Wever in the 22nd minute of play forced 2860 Linksback's goalkeeper Tom Van Bouschot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Peter-Jan Deflandre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steffen De Wever recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 30 played minutes 2860 Linksback got a freekick which was hit by Maurice Vinckx. The audience cheered when Garry Neesens's long shot passed Tom Van Bouschot's right side. It was 0-2, 31 minutes into the match. If Steffen De Wever had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jerry Verhaghen struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Tom Van Bouschot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Ledeseyde. Tom Van Bouschot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steffen De Wever in the 39th minute of the match. When Jerry Verhaghen came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Sporting Ledeseyde fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jerry Verhaghen couldn't finish the play. Tom Van Bouschot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steffen De Wever, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Sporting Ledeseyde were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 56 played minutes 2860 Linksback got a freekick which was hit by Maarten De Hooge. In the 57th minute Steffen De Wever shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Van Bouschot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tom Van Bouschot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steffen De Wever in the 76th minute of play. Peter-Jan Deflandre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Reinaert Neirynck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
