Guilian Ghesels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Benny Devos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as FC The Smokers's Gerrit Philippaerts slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ivan Van hoegaerde. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. Karel-Jan Biermans hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Ernst Verhasselt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's Rudy Uytterhaegen got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 20th minute, Kobe Tilens left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC The Smokers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. 27 minutes into the match, Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's goal looked a bit too open when Kobe Tilens came free, but Ivan Van hoegaerde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ivan Van hoegaerde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kobe Tilens in the 32nd minute of play. Ivan Van hoegaerde didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gerrit Philippaerts went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kobe Tilens was the one to do the kick off. Gerrit Philippaerts took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivan Van hoegaerde. Ivan Van hoegaerde dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Kobe Tilens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ivan Van hoegaerde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The nice shot from Guilian Ghesels in the 58thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Benny Devos had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. When Teun Van Heurick fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's protests and gave Teun Van Heurick a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Teun Van Heurick hit a great ball. Guilian Ghesels was extremely unlucky when he, in the 77th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Gerrit Philippaerts blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ivan Van hoegaerde having to make a save. Ivan Van hoegaerde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerrit Philippaerts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Richy Van Aertvin fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's protests and gave Richy Van Aertvin a yellow card for diving instead. Richy Van Aertvin kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. If Guilian Ghesels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 88 minutes, Teun Van Heurick managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teun Van Heurick was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of FC The Smokers booed when Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teun Van Heurick didn't get a good kick on the ball. The FC The Smokers players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
