The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Lieven Bossuyt took the kick off in the first half of the match. Werner Hoes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hans De Block, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Werner Hoes came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Racing Leuven's Hans De Block. But to his dismay, Hans De Block quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 10th minute Lieven Bossuyt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Werner Hoes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Werner Hoes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joachim Pannekoek in the 11th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, VVV Vurige Vossen's goal looked a bit too open when Joachim Pannekoek came free, but Werner Hoes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Werner Hoes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joachim Pannekoek's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Racing Leuven's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Alexander Van Mellart scored to the left of an out of position Ferdinand Raedemaeckers, making the score, 1-1. In the 18th minute Alexander Van Mellart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinand Raedemaeckers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Racing Leuven's Timmy Inglebert seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Timmy Inglebert the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Racing Leuven protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Timmy Inglebert had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 18th minute, one of Racing Leuven:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Racing Leuven. The goalkeeper, Ferdinand Raedemaeckers, was totally fooled by VVV Vurige Vossen's Yannik Van Der Veecken, who 20 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The referee felt a red card was in order, 26 minutes into the game, when Floris Verdonk put in a rough tackle. In the 26th minute, Floris Verdonk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lieven Bossuyt in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Werner Hoes saved VVV Vurige Vossen from getting behind. Racing Leuven's Ferdinand Raedemaeckers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Leuven from getting a goal against them. Ferdinand Raedemaeckers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenneth Petermans in the 45th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alexander Van Mellart to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Gino Van Den Eijnde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Werner Hoes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th match minute, VVV Vurige Vossen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jules Struyf to maneuver through the defense. Ferdinand Raedemaeckers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenneth Petermans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ferdinand Raedemaeckers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenneth Petermans in the 61st minute of play. Lieven Bossuyt received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Werner Hoes came out and tried to block the shot, but Lieven Bossuyt slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 65th minute. After 70 minutes, Yannik Van Der Veecken mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VVV Vurige Vossen and the Racing Leuven players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to VVV Vurige Vossen getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Yannik Van Der Veecken hit a great ball. Alexander Van Mellart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th minute, Joachim Pannekoek got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. VVV Vurige Vossen's Werner Hoes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lieven Bossuyt in the 80th minute of play. VVV Vurige Vossen's Werner Hoes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save VVV Vurige Vossen from getting a goal against them. 83 minutes into the match, Racing Leuven's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Van Mellart came free, but Ferdinand Raedemaeckers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alexander Van Mellart received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Ferdinand Raedemaeckers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute Lieven Bossuyt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Werner Hoes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Racing Leuven were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
