In the 20th minute Ken Stessel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emiliano Martínez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ken Stessel ran back to his position shaking his head. 67 minutes into the match, Sint-Niklaas's Frederick Declerck sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ataol Ayalp narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ataol Ayalp didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hugo Voorhof went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. In the 77th match minute, Standaard Meerbeek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ken Stessel to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute Hugo Voorhof shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ataol Ayalp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johan De Metser might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emiliano Martínez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johan De Metser ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Davy Weba got free with Emiliano Martínez in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Standaard Meerbeek's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Johan De Metser in the 89th minute. The corner led to Standaard Meerbeek's Johan De Metser getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 93 minutes into the game, Steve Van Steen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Standaard Meerbeek's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sint-Niklaas the free kick. Ahmet Ekin was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 95th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. There was no doubt that Sint-Niklaas were the better team. Sint-Niklaas's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
