Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Viktor De Baere came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Standaard Meerbeek's Pieter-Jan De Raedemaeker. But to his dismay, Pieter-Jan De Raedemaeker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 20 minutes into the match, Standaard Meerbeek's goal looked a bit too open when Ron Gyselincx came free, but Ataol Ayalp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ataol Ayalp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luckas Goddez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Casper Huveneers charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Davy Weba couldn't finish the play. 28 minutes into the game, Teo Snijers was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wevelgem FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Standaard Meerbeek the free kick. A collision led to Wevelgem FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Teo Snijers hit a great ball. Viktor De Baere didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ken Stessel went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of Wevelgem FC booed when Standaard Meerbeek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Van Steen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Martin Jandík hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The Wevelgem FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Standaard Meerbeek were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luckas Goddez made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Willem-Alexander Wilmots during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ataol Ayalp came out of the goal and Ron Gyselincx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ken Stessel might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Viktor De Baere. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ken Stessel ran back to his position shaking his head. Luk Lanfan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Ataol Ayalp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 81 minutes, Ken Peers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wevelgem FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ken Peers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 87 minutes into the match, Standaard Meerbeek's goal looked a bit too open when Ron Gyselincx came free, but Ataol Ayalp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute Wevelgem FC were awarded a corner. Diego De Graef went to the cornerflag to take it. If Ken Peers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Standaard Meerbeek's Ataol Ayalp played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Peers in the 97th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Wevelgem FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
