Spectators: 9211 (Terracing: 6910, Seating: 2118, VIP seats: 183) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Yanick Schautens started the match with the kick off. When Flamenco United's Yanick Schautens in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Genk's goalie prevented a goal. Lenny Vorster stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yanick Schautens's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Flamenco United's Leandro Teofilio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lenny Vorster narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 8 minutes had been played when some careless play by Genk's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Camillo Mercuri was slow to take the kick. During this time Flamenco United's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Flamenco United's Camillo Mercuri to fire away a dangerous shot which Lenny Vorster despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Genk booed when Flamenco United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yanick Schautens didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexander Klemensson in the 14th minute of play forced Flamenco United's goalkeeper Ye Zheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flamenco United's Ye Zheng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aron Trif in the 16th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Cheng Gang Wen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfons Rijniers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ye Zheng read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute of the match, Aron Trif tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ye Zheng saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Genk were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Flamenco United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alfons Rijniers took the corner. 25 minutes into the match, Flamenco United's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Klemensson came free, but Ye Zheng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Genk were awarded a corner in the 27th minute after Flamenco United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alfons Rijniers took the corner. With 28 minutes on the clock, Mário Trigo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Mário Trigo kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Alexander Klemensson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ye Zheng read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Ye Zheng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexander Klemensson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th match minute, Flamenco United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Specht to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Genk's Ye Zheng threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vergil Rupov, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Ye Zheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vergil Rupov in the 51st minute of play. Leandro Teofilio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenny Vorster having to interfere. When Gwidon Cichocki, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 55 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Lenny Vorster was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Ye Zheng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Suat Kaya in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aron Trif in the 57th minute of play forced Flamenco United's goalkeeper Ye Zheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alexander Klemensson came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Genk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexander Klemensson couldn't finish the play. In the 71st match minute, Genk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Mampaerts to maneuver through the defense. Genk made a substitution. Albert Verdun replaced Alfons Rijniers. In the 72nd minute, Tony Mampaerts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Camillo Mercuri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ye Zheng showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Suat Kaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute Alexander Klemensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ye Zheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ye Zheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vergil Rupov in the 82nd minute of play. Ye Zheng came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Genk's Aron Trif. But to his dismay, Aron Trif quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After 89 minutes Genk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Camillo Mercuri who took care of the corner kick. Flamenco United's Ye Zheng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Suat Kaya in the 94th minute of play.
