Diederiek Dirckx started the match with the kick off. After having played for 2 minutes, Vergil Rupov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Genk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vergil Rupov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lenny Vorster showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pieterjan Vanneste, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Alexander Klemensson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adrian Železný having to make a save. 1-0 became the score in the 14th minute when Hans Wery elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Adrian Železný showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vergil Rupov in the 19th minute of the match. With a little luck, Genk's Lenny Vorster got control of the ball when Pieterjan Vanneste tried to sneak it across the goal line. 28 minutes into the game, Diederiek Dirckx lined in a short shot 2-1 behind a frustrated Lenny Vorster. 31 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Diederiek Dirckx came free, but Lenny Vorster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Suat Kaya in the 33rd minute of play forced FCB team's goalkeeper Adrian Železný to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pieterjan Vanneste could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Lenny Vorster made a huge save. After 40 minutes of play, Genk's Michel Hakimi made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Adrian Železný was left in no man's land by his defense there! Adrian Železný showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Suat Kaya in the 44th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Suat Kaya stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Suat Kaya in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrian Železný saved FCB team from getting behind. After 52 played minutes FCB team got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Guillelme. The audience thought a goal was coming when Suat Kaya got free with Adrian Železný in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pieterjan Vanneste in the 59th minute of play forced Genk's goalkeeper Lenny Vorster to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 60 played minutes FCB team got a freekick which was hit by Frans Vrankx. In the 61st minute 邵泉林 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Železný saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adrian Železný made an important save on a dangerous shot by Suat Kaya in the 62nd minute. A collision led to Genk getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Tony Mampaerts hit a great ball. Suat Kaya who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Adrian Železný when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Lenny Vorster took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hans Wery, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vergil Rupov hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. FCB team's Kamber Aydınoğlu was substituted for Pieterjan Vanneste. FCB team made a substitution. Aaron Van Espen replaced Diederiek Dirckx. In the 74th match minute, Genk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vergil Rupov to maneuver through the defense. If Aaron Van Espen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute Kamber Aydınoğlu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lenny Vorster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Suat Kaya had several of the FCB team's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 90 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-3 score and a disappointed Adrian Železný as he didn't even see the shot coming. After a rather tough play, FCB team's Eliseo Guillelme got a free kick in the 95th minute.
