Olavarria FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Isaias Matas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Baia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Isaias Matas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vítor Baia having to make a save. Vítor Baia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaias Matas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isaias Matas took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vítor Baia. Vítor Baia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Isaias Matas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brugge United's Vítor Baia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaias Matas in the 25th minute of play. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brugge United's goalkeeper Vítor Baia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 30th minute Olavarria FC were awarded a corner. Mauro Kotlar went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Arthur Eekhout almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Brugge United's Vítor Baia did a great save. In the 33rd match minute, Brugge United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dacian Hrean to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Isaias Matas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vítor Baia was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. After 44 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Guido Vissenaeken. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Isaias Matas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Michel Hendrickx stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnauld Van Impe's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Vítor Baia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ervigio Ojeda in the 71st minute of the match. Ervigio Ojeda might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vítor Baia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 81st minute, Brugge United's Arnauld Van Impe ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Michel Hendrickx. Michel Hendrickx yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Arnauld Van Impe kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Michel Hendrickx. That made the score 1-3 in the 84 minute of play.
