Spectators: 6843 (Terracing: 5100, Seating: 1743, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Roland Mende took the kick off in the first half of the match. Marco Schumann took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell. Ajax Amsterdam's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Roland Mende's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peter Schoppitsch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. If Ralf Schmitzberger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralf Schmitzberger struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Falkenstein. In the 13th minute Roland Mende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Schoppitsch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Falkenstein was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Holger Gerolstein to maneuver through the defense. Roy Waidler hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Klaas Haar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Falkenstein's supporters rose to their feet, but Klaas Haar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralf Schmitzberger in the 25th minute of play forced Ajax Amsterdam's goalkeeper Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Ajax Amsterdam's goal looked a bit too open when Ralf Schmitzberger came free, but Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roland Mende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the game, Ulrich-Jürgen Golz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Peter Schoppitsch was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 38 minutes, Ralf Schmitzberger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Falkenstein's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ralf Schmitzberger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Klaas Haar got free with Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th minute, Kurt Köhler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roland Mende struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Peter Schoppitsch didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ajax Amsterdam.

The wind increased when Ralf Schmitzberger made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan-Oliver Draxinger got free with Peter Schoppitsch in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ajax Amsterdam's Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ralf Schmitzberger in the 55th minute of play. If Jan-Oliver Draxinger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute, Holger Gerolstein hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Falkenstein's zone, Jan-Oliver Draxinger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Schoppitsch came out of the goal and Jan-Oliver Draxinger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Klaas Haar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell having to interfere. When Ralf Schmitzberger came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Falkenstein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ralf Schmitzberger couldn't finish the play. Roy Waidler's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peter Schoppitsch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Jan-Oliver Draxinger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Schoppitsch having to interfere. Wolfgang-Bernd Obergfell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klaas Haar in the 90th minute of the match. Ajax Amsterdam's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
