The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Felix Muller kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, Dennis-Sven Mierzwa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 16 minutes into the match, Salzburg MC's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis-Sven Mierzwa came free, but Roland Weber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dennis-Sven Mierzwa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Christopher Hemmel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rouven Doual showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Muller, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Per-Otto Böcker kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Rouven Doual showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christopher Hemmel in the 28th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Voitsberg's Per-Otto Böcker got a free kick in the 28th minute. When Christopher Hemmel came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Salzburg MC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christopher Hemmel couldn't finish the play. Mark Otto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Salzburg MC's Roland Weber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis-Sven Mierzwa in the 45th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christopher Hemmel to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Salzburg MC got a freekick which was hit by Christian Kamenskich. Voitsberg's Heinrich Balkenohl couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 54th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Salzburg MC. Roland Weber didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dennis-Sven Mierzwa went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Roland Weber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mark Otto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 61 minutes, Dennis-Sven Mierzwa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Voitsberg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dennis-Sven Mierzwa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fatih Pierron hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Robin Hörtnagel during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Voitsberg booed when Salzburg MC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robin Hörtnagel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 played minutes Salzburg MC got a freekick which was hit by Felix Muller. A collision led to Voitsberg getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Per-Otto Böcker hit a great ball. A hard shot by Philipp Stark from long distance, 88 minutes into the match, got Rouven Doual's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After having played for 89 minutes, Christopher Hemmel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
