The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Torsten Ramusch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gerhard Matzkies in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan-Erik Pötscher saved Brenndorf from getting behind. In the 20th match minute, Brenndorf was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerrit Odenwälder to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Brenndorf's goal looked a bit too open when Gerhard Matzkies came free, but Jan-Erik Pötscher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gerhard Matzkies recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jan-Erik Pötscher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerhard Matzkies, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Gerhard Matzkies managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lankowitz's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerhard Matzkies was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan-Erik Pötscher breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jan-Erik Pötscher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torsten Ramusch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gerhard Matzkies had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brenndorf's Jan-Erik Pötscher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerhard Matzkies in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Heinz Reim in the 42nd minute of play forced Lankowitz's goalkeeper Ralf Sommer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 0-1 became the score in the 47th minute when Torsten Ramusch elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After the first half Lankowitz were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gerhard Matzkies to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brenndorf's goalkeeper Jan-Erik Pötscher, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hubert Besken hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Phillip Meling hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. After 65 played minutes Gerhard Matzkies rounded Brenndorf's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. Brenndorf's Jan-Erik Pötscher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Brenndorf from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Lankowitz's Gerhard Matzkies slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jan-Erik Pötscher. That made the score 0-3 after 72 minutes of play. The supporters of Lankowitz booed when Brenndorf was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hubert Besken didn't get a good kick on the ball. Torsten Ramusch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute.
