In the 8th match minute, Dietmanns was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julien-Nils Geladaris to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sascha Spörle in the 11th minute of play forced Dietmanns's goalkeeper Julius-Lasse Gotthardt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dietmanns's Julius-Lasse Gotthardt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sascha Spörle in the 12th minute of play. Uli Bresagk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. University of Toronto's Sören Bieber got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, University of Toronto's Julius-Lasse Gotthardt threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sascha Spörle, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 34th minute, Sören Bieber made a precise shot to the right of Julius-Lasse Gotthardt. Dietmanns's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Dietmanns's goalkeeper Julius-Lasse Gotthardt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sören Bieber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sascha Spörle stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
