The mood of the audience was pleasant when Claus Schüring made the kick off which started today's match. After a defensive mix-up in AUSTRIA WIEN's zone, Claus Schüring stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Torsten Podella came out of the goal and Claus Schüring tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 10 minutes, Hansjörg Fischer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AUSTRIA WIEN and the Gars players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 10 played minutes AUSTRIA WIEN got a freekick which was hit by Hansjörg Fischer. Rainer Payer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Torsten Podella tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Torsten Podella made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claus Schüring in the 13th minute of play. Claus Schüring sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Torsten Podella was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Claus Schüring capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Claus Schüring really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Torsten Podella showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claus Schüring, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Rainer Payer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Torsten Podella made a huge save. The supporters of Gars booed when AUSTRIA WIEN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Simoneit didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute, Hansjörg Fischer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arne Kühle was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stefan-Benjamin Katzer was the one to do the kick off. Stefan-Benjamin Katzer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute of the match Elias Aufhauser sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arne Kühle skillfully saved the ball. If Stefan-Benjamin Katzer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute, Claus Schüring got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Rainer Payer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Stefan-Benjamin Katzer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Torsten Podella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heiko Backesdorf in the 82nd minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Heiko Backesdorf notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of AUSTRIA WIEN's Torsten Podella. Torsten Podella was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 94 minutes into the match, AUSTRIA WIEN's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Dollinger came free, but Torsten Podella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gars walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
