After some careless play in the KSV Falken defense, Andre Engberts kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julius-Lasse Lange. The KSV Falken fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julius-Lasse Lange should have stopped the shot. In the 28th minute, Klaus Borak ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christoph Rohe was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Jonas-Marius Winkels's late challenge caught a Bierussia Dortmund's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
