The referee ignored Bierussia Dortmund's protests and gave Sascha Peintner a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, Bierussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sascha Peintner to maneuver through the defense. 27 minutes into the match, Bierussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Felix Zurcher came free, but Christoph Rohe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Angels's Ole Zichmann managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Sascha Peintner in the 29 minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Georg Bohnhorst kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wolfgang Jaskulski. That made the score 1-2 in the 44 minute of play.

52 minutes into the match, Ole Zichmann dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Christoph Rohe, 1-3. After a rather tough play, Angels's Ole Zichmann got a free kick in the 58th minute. Wolfgang Jaskulski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Georg Bohnhorst, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Isaltino Botelho kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Andreas Horneber hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. The Angels players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
