After 3 played minutes Galatasaray SK got a freekick which was hit by Klaus Beudel. After 6 minutes of play, Mechanical Animals's Omiros Kazanis made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gabriel Rathmann was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Mechanical Animals booed when Galatasaray SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beppe Catapano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th match minute, Mechanical Animals was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Omiros Kazanis to maneuver through the defense. Jonas Maletz made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Eduard Säuml sent off a good shot on target. In the 20th minute Klaus Beudel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonas Maletz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Hubert Sieberichs's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gabriel Rathmann was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. A collision led to Galatasaray SK getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Boleslaw Marciewicz hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the match, Mechanical Animals's Julien Ramusch broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Jonas Maletz came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Galatasaray SK's Klaus Beudel. But to his dismay, Klaus Beudel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Omiros Kazanis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Gabriel Rathmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 minutes of play, Mechanical Animals's Björn-Torben Mai made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gabriel Rathmann was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gabriel Rathmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johann Hassel's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. When Nico-Pascal Divis fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galatasaray SK's protests and gave Nico-Pascal Divis a yellow card for diving instead. If Johann Hassel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th match minute, Galatasaray SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beppe Catapano to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The wind increased when Eduard Säuml made the kick off in the second half. Galatasaray SK's Gabriel Rathmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Galatasaray SK from getting a goal against them. Eduard Säuml received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Jonas Maletz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Omiros Kazanis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gabriel Rathmann came out and tried to block the shot, but Omiros Kazanis slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 57th minute. In the 70th match minute, Mechanical Animals was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toni Klinkhammer to maneuver through the defense. Arto Kaldmaa might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonas Maletz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arto Kaldmaa ran back to his position shaking his head. Johann Hassel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Galatasaray SK booed when Mechanical Animals was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omiros Kazanis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonas Maletz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduard Säuml in the 78th minute of play. Galatasaray SK's Gabriel Rathmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hubert Sieberichs in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klaus Beudel in the 82nd minute of play forced Mechanical Animals's goalkeeper Jonas Maletz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd match minute, Galatasaray SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boleslaw Marciewicz to maneuver through the defense. Mechanical Animals's Jonas Maletz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduard Säuml in the 87th minute of play. Jonas Maletz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klaus Beudel in the 89th minute of the match. Eduard Säuml fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonas Maletz having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduard Säuml in the 96th minute of play forced Mechanical Animals's goalkeeper Jonas Maletz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mechanical Animals played a much better game than Galatasaray SK and deserved their victory. The Galatasaray SK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
