Spectators: 6946 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1946, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Chaz Hopgood started the match with the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bob Leather in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luke Hurst prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luke Hurst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Marston in the 10th minute of play. Luke Hurst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Marston, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. If Patrick Marston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the match, La Massana's goal looked a bit too open when Bob Leather came free, but Luke Hurst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mickey Wardell's late challenge caught a Skipton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mickey Wardell helped the player get up and apologised. After 29 played minutes La Massana got a freekick which was hit by Mickey Wardell. After a defensive mix-up in La Massana's zone, Bob Leather stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luke Hurst came out of the goal and Bob Leather tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bob Leather got in the 38th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Luke Hurst handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Luke Hurst stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Patrick Marston's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bob Leather stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Patrick Marston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Luke Hurst tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Bob Leather's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luke Hurst was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Chaz Hopgood might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Basil Cornish. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chaz Hopgood ran back to his position shaking his head. Luke Hurst made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Patrick Marston sent off a good shot on target. Luke Hurst came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Skipton's Patrick Marston. But to his dismay, Patrick Marston quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 67 minutes into the match, La Massana's goal looked a bit too open when Johnnie Worth came free, but Luke Hurst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bob Leather in the 70th minute of play forced La Massana's goalkeeper Luke Hurst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Patrick Marston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Bob Leather had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Lenny Mabbutt fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Massana's protests and gave Lenny Mabbutt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th minute, Lenny Mabbutt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the La Massana defense, Patrick Marston kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luke Hurst. The La Massana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luke Hurst should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, La Massana's Luke Hurst got control of the ball when Patrick Marston tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mickey Wardell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Skipton's Basil Cornish played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chaz Hopgood in the 94th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Mickey Wardell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Basil Cornish was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Skipton's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
