Seating: 1957, VIP seats: 0) 4 minutes into the match, Buckingham Palace's goalkeeper Glyn Pope had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ty Wilkins. Glyn Pope didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eddy Oldham went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Tim Davies kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Ty Wilkins kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Hemel Hempstead's Joey Coleman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guy Payne in the 15th minute of play. Joey Coleman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lloyd Cambridge, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Guy Payne scored 1-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joey Coleman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Guy Payne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 28 minutes, Guy Payne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buckingham Palace's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guy Payne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tim Davies hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Lloyd Cambridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Joey Coleman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Ollie Attenborough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ty Wilkins fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hemel Hempstead's protests and gave Ty Wilkins a yellow card for diving instead. After the first half Buckingham Palace were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Eddy Oldham made the kick off in the second half. Joey Coleman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lloyd Cambridge in the 54th minute. In the 57th minute, Hemel Hempstead's Verne Brewer seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Verne Brewer the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Hemel Hempstead protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Verne Brewer had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 65 minutes, Curtis Salt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hemel Hempstead and the Buckingham Palace players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 65th match minute, Hemel Hempstead was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Curtis Salt to maneuver through the defense. Trevor Auckland could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Joey Coleman made a huge save. Guy Payne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joey Coleman having to interfere. Ty Wilkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 75 played minutes, Buckingham Palace's Doug Herring shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Joey Coleman came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Buckingham Palace reached it. When Ty Wilkins came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Hemel Hempstead fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ty Wilkins couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Buckingham Palace's zone, Tim Davies stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Glyn Pope came out of the goal and Tim Davies tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lloyd Cambridge got free with Joey Coleman in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joey Coleman was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Guy Payne showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 94 minute of play. The Buckingham Palace supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Buckingham Palace would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
