Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rod Brighton took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 3 minutes of play, Budleigh Salterton's Rod Brighton made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Damion Howard was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sid Welsh hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. If Roger Hayes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 10th minute Rod Brighton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damion Howard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roger Hayes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damion Howard having to interfere. In the 13th minute Roger Hayes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damion Howard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Budleigh Salterton's zone, Donny Haley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alan Simms came out of the goal and Donny Haley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roger Hayes in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damion Howard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Budleigh Salterton's Rod Brighton got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Budleigh Salterton's Sid Welsh got a free kick in the 21st minute. When Zak Porter came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Culcheth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zak Porter couldn't finish the play. 30 minutes into the match, Culcheth's goal looked a bit too open when Rod Brighton came free, but Damion Howard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damion Howard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rod Brighton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alan Simms made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zak Porter in the 35th minute of play. If Zak Porter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chris Davenport's late challenge caught a Culcheth's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris Davenport helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Budleigh Salterton's Chris Davenport got a free kick in the 38th minute. Donny Haley's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 39thth minute, Alan Simms skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Rod Brighton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Roger Hayes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zak Porter to strike the kick off in the second half. Alan Simms made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donny Haley in the 52nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roger Hayes in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damion Howard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rod Brighton struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Damion Howard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Budleigh Salterton. After 63 played minutes Budleigh Salterton got a freekick which was hit by Chris Davenport. Alan Simms made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francis Moxon in the 66th minute of play. If Roger Hayes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zak Porter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, Budleigh Salterton's goal looked a bit too open when Zak Porter came free, but Alan Simms reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute, Zak Porter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Culcheth fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 86th minute, Donny Haley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 88 minutes of play, Culcheth's Zak Porter made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alan Simms was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Culcheth's Craig Harrison got a free kick in the 91st minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Budleigh Salterton players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Culcheth.
