The referee ignored Carpathia's protests and gave Koos Lemmen a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Carpathia getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Koos Lemmen hit a great ball. Louie Scargill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Colin Colt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 7 minutes, Teobald Gacki made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Carpathia's Colin Colt tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Carpathia's Colin Colt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Howard Briggs in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Westcliff on Sea's Mathias Hammarberg ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Colin Colt. Colin Colt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After 17 played minutes Westcliff on Sea got a freekick which was hit by Darryl Ansell. Colin Colt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Darryl Ansell's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Colin Colt made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Mathias Hammarberg sent off a good shot on target. Teobald Gacki scored 3-0 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Colin Colt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 31 minutes into the match, Westcliff on Sea's Mathias Hammarberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Colin Colt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Freddy Leather had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Darryl Ansell hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mathias Hammarberg was the one to do the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 55th minute by Adam Sewell got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Carpathia's Adam Sewell quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 63rd minute, Freddy Leather hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Howard Briggs scored 5-0 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Colin Colt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Carpathia's Colin Colt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathias Hammarberg in the 70th minute of play. After 73 minutes, Daniel Rotherfield mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carpathia and the Westcliff on Sea players grew even worse after the yellow card. Colin Colt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Carpathia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teobald Gacki was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. Carpathia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
