But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Cooke couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henry Hird during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Henry Hird hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 11th minute, Fred Cooke left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stamford United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Harry Blake received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Calum Walsh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calum Walsh came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Stamford United's Fred Cooke. But to his dismay, Fred Cooke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Fred Cooke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Calum Walsh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stewart Endean, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th match minute, Stamford United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fred Cooke to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Harry Blake managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stamford United's supporters rose to their feet, but Harry Blake was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Calum Walsh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 33 minutes, Ged Coates managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stamford United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ged Coates was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Stewart Endean sped through Dorchester FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Calum Walsh. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Stewart Endean put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Calum Walsh. If Stewart Endean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Nathan Woodcock had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Calum Walsh. Dorchester FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nathan Woodcock was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. When Ged Coates came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Stamford United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ged Coates couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stewart Endean to make the kick off. Stamford United's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
