The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jakob Gernberg to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Şamil Ersalmış in the 78th minute of play forced GS & STAR's goalkeeper Adrianinho Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 78 minutes into the game, when Arkadiusz Knopek put in a rough tackle. When the match had been going on for 80 minutes, Bursaspor's Abdullah Çalımbay got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Adrianinho Garcia.
