In the 3rd minute, Galatasaray 1905 SK's Erdeniz Kınıkaslan seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Erdeniz Kınıkaslan the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Galatasaray 1905 SK protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Erdeniz Kınıkaslan had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 2nd minute, one of Galatasaray 1905 SK:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Galatasaray 1905 SK. With an all-out effort, Galatasaray 1905 SK's Yavuz Bülent Perinçek threw himself towards the right post 7 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aydemir Mecit, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aydemir Mecit in the 7th minute of play forced ZONGULDAK FK's goalkeeper Yavuz Bülent Perinçek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 10 minutes, Felix Zambrano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ZONGULDAK FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Zambrano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ceyhan Çinuçin hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The supporters of ZONGULDAK FK booed when Galatasaray 1905 SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Erdem Nuratay didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16thth minute of the game Felix Zambrano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Galatasaray 1905 SK's Tekin Yetener was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tekin Yetener made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronny Hammarbäck in the 19th minute of play. Ronny Hammarbäck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Tekin Yetener tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Felix Zambrano notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Galatasaray 1905 SK's Tekin Yetener. Tekin Yetener was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Felix Zambrano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felix Zambrano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tekin Yetener having to interfere. Yavuz Bülent Perinçek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erhun Ezrak in the 34th minute of play. Ronny Hammarbäck blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tekin Yetener having to make a save. Felix Zambrano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Tekin Yetener tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronny Hammarbäck in the 46th minute of play forced Galatasaray 1905 SK's goalkeeper Tekin Yetener to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abayhan Ulualp to make the kick off. Tekin Yetener was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ronny Hammarbäck showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 51 minute of play. Ronny Hammarbäck struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Tekin Yetener didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ZONGULDAK FK. Ronny Hammarbäck had several of the Galatasaray 1905 SK's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 56 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Tekin Yetener as he didn't even see the shot coming. Ronny Hammarbäck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tekin Yetener stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ronny Hammarbäck's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Felix Zambrano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tekin Yetener read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. In the 68thth minute of the game Ronny Hammarbäck who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Galatasaray 1905 SK's Tekin Yetener was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 70 minutes into the match, ZONGULDAK FK's Ronny Hammarbäck sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tekin Yetener narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Felix Zambrano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tekin Yetener showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronny Hammarbäck in the 75th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Galatasaray 1905 SK:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of ZONGULDAK FK:s goal. Ronny Hammarbäck walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erhun Ezrak in the 89th minute of play forced ZONGULDAK FK's goalkeeper Yavuz Bülent Perinçek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute, Aydemir Mecit hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felix Zambrano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match was over ZONGULDAK FK could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Galatasaray 1905 SK throughout the match.
