The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Varto SK's zone, İbrahim Ethem Kortan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Berkan Safer came out of the goal and İbrahim Ethem Kortan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute Hıncal Tunçbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ersan Yaban saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 15 played minutes Varto SK got a freekick which was hit by Ruhi Tacal. Ersan Yaban showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hıncal Tunçbay in the 25th minute of the match. If Hıncal Tunçbay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 39th minute, Varto SK's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after İbrahim Ethem Kortan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ersan Yaban took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hıncal Tunçbay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. İbrahim Ethem Kortan was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Varto SK getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Gürkan Eymen hit a great ball. Varto SK's Berkan Safer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murat Selim Akın in the 60th minute of play. If Murat Selim Akın had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ersan Yaban was a little too slow when Rıfkı Ahioğlu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 75th minute. The score was now 2-1. Ersan Yaban showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hıncal Tunçbay, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the 82nd minute, İbrahim Ethem Kortan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Berkan Safer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murat Selim Akın, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the match, Varto SK's goal looked a bit too open when Murat Selim Akın came free, but Berkan Safer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute Paşa Ali Civanmert suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gürkan Eymen during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 88th minute, Gürkan Eymen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
