The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Atakan Çelikoz helped the player get up and apologised. After 7 played minutes Fenerbahçe got a freekick which was hit by Atakan Çelikoz. After some careless play in the Fenerbahçe defense, Alpay Torcan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Babür İrfan. The Fenerbahçe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Babür İrfan should have stopped the shot. Fenerbahçe's Sefa Bardakçı managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Işıkalp Mukerrem in the 18 minute of the game. Babür İrfan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Atilla Bumin Sadi went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Ali Kaan Tecimen made in the 27th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Atilla Bumin Sadi however managed to control. After 30 played minutes Van FK got a freekick which was hit by Faruk Nafiz Seha. In the 36th minute, Arcan Tümerk left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Van FK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 39 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Van FK's Ertuğrul Şahkar fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilla Bumin Sadi in the 42nd minute of play forced Fenerbahçe's goalkeeper Babür İrfan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Babür İrfan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ertuğrul Şahkar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Atakan Çelikoz to make the kick off. With an all-out effort, Van FK's Babür İrfan threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ertuğrul Şahkar, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Babür İrfan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alpay Torcan in the 72nd minute. In the 74th minute, Kutlu Vefik hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 82 minutes, Mehmet Edip Özinan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After a rather tough play, Fenerbahçe's Tuncer Eronat got a free kick in the 91st minute. Babür İrfan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alpay Torcan in the 94th minute. The supporters of Van FK booed when Fenerbahçe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orbay Zor didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Van FK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
