Vecdet Usbey started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Cerkes FK's Üzeyir Arıkhan got control of the ball when Halit Rehber tried to sneak it across the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Cerkes FK's goalkeeper Üzeyir Arıkhan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Halit Rehber. 16 minutes into the game, Vecdet Usbey cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cumhur İlksen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mehmet Ali Şahap's late challenge caught a Cerkes FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mehmet Ali Şahap helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Galata getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. A very good chance for a goal. Halit Rehber's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Üzeyir Arıkhan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Halit Rehber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Üzeyir Arıkhan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Halit Rehber ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Üzeyir Arıkhan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. When Necdet Şıran fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galata's protests and gave Necdet Şıran a yellow card for diving instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 52nd minute Halit Rehber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Üzeyir Arıkhan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If 任义翔 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Halit Rehber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 66 minutes, Yavuz Selim Ulu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cerkes FK and the Galata players grew even worse after the yellow card. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Üzeyir Arıkhan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Vecdet Usbey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 89 minutes, Arda Ozan Kurman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galata's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arda Ozan Kurman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Galata fully deserved thier win.
