Korkut Varlık started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Lazio FC's goal looked a bit too open when Işıkalp Kandemir came free, but Ahmet Hakan Mutluay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 6 played minutes Chellas FK got a freekick which was hit by Fazıl Dilsafa. Fazıl Dilsafa hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. With 12 minutes on the clock, Mo Leek commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. Mahsun Dalga's late challenge caught a Chellas FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mahsun Dalga helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Işıkalp Kandemir in the 18th minute of play forced Lazio FC's goalkeeper Ahmet Hakan Mutluay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute Işıkalp Kandemir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahmet Hakan Mutluay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Lazio FC's goal looked a bit too open when Işıkalp Kandemir came free, but Ahmet Hakan Mutluay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 25 minutes Lazio FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tarık Refet who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Tarık Refet got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ahmet Hakan Mutluay quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 27 played minutes Chellas FK got a freekick which was hit by Fazıl Dilsafa. After 30 played minutes Lazio FC got a freekick which was hit by Doğuhan Olguner. 44 minutes into the match, Korkut Varlık had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ahmet Hakan Mutluay. Lazio FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Korkut Varlık was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Işıkalp Kandemir in the 48th minute of play forced Lazio FC's goalkeeper Ahmet Hakan Mutluay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mehmet Bedri Haznedaroğlu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Chellas FK booed when Lazio FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doğuhan Olguner didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Işıkalp Kandemir got free with Ahmet Hakan Mutluay in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 66th minute, Ragnar Valler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Lazio FC's zone, Işıkalp Kandemir stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ahmet Hakan Mutluay came out of the goal and Işıkalp Kandemir tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 71st minute Korkut Varlık shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahmet Hakan Mutluay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ahmet Hakan Mutluay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Işıkalp Kandemir in the 81st minute of play. Lazio FC's Ragnar Valler got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 90 played minutes Lazio FC got a freekick which was hit by Erberk Vurgun. The long shot by Tarık Refet in the 91st minute really tested Ahmet Hakan Mutluay's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Chellas FK had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
