In the 17th minute, Aykan Erdesir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Muammer Güngör had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Muammer Güngör made a precise shot to the right of Baybora Türkşen. Galatasaray F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Baybora Türkşen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Seyhun Bircanoğlu's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Seyhun Bircanoğlu was the one to do the kick off. Seyhun Bircanoğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baybora Türkşen having to interfere. After some careless play in the Galatasaray F.C defense, Muammer Güngör kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Baybora Türkşen. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Muammer Güngör in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Baybora Türkşen saved Galatasaray F.C from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Seyhun Bircanoğlu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fenerbahçe's supporters rose to their feet, but Seyhun Bircanoğlu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baybora Türkşen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aybar Ünal charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aybar Ünal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
