The supporters of Yeniköy booed when FENERBAHÇE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nurettin Erçevik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haluk Habiboğlu came out of the goal and Aykutalp Açıkgöz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, FENERBAHÇE's Eralp Türehan got control of the ball when Ferhan Birsoy tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 29th minute, Ferhan Birsoy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yeniköy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. FENERBAHÇE's Sercan Savtekin got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Yeniköy's zone, Sercan Savtekin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haluk Habiboğlu came out of the goal and Sercan Savtekin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ferhan Birsoy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Eralp Türehan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arda Göksel Vaha made a kick off. Eralp Türehan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arda Göksel Vaha, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Arda Göksel Vaha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eralp Türehan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. After having played for 96 minutes, Arda Göksel Vaha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yeniköy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arda Göksel Vaha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yeniköy's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
